On 11 Jan 1879 British troops invaded & after a series of battles a Peace Treaty was signed 1 Sep with Zululand being annexed by the British 1 Jan 1887 & later to Natal on 1 Dec 1887. Houison Crauford later went on to serve in the Chinese Expeditionary Force (C.E.F.) during the Boxer war

Nairobi, a further APO - U - MPK /3 (26 Dec) despatch & Ladysmith Natal /RLS (8 Jan 41) arrival cds ............................................................................................... The South African invasion force at this time at Wajir 16 Dec 40 - (3 Jan 41) was strategically moving to invade Italian held Somaliland & it looks as if no registration facilities were available at Wajir with the fee probably being paid in cash & adhesives applied in transit at Advance Base P.O. in Nairobi ………………...a fascinating & scarce item
