Domenico Bellantoni, Italian Palestine Detachment Junction E.E.F.from Italian Fra Benesletto bearing Palestine E.E.F. 1m brown & 2m green tied skeleton Army Post Office SZ 44 located Jerusalem & with very faint partial framed scalloped corners Palestine / Censorship / No. 3 & with at bottom strange character looking perhaps like a "J" but of unknown purpose. ............................................................................................... The Italians had a very small detachment of soldiers in Palestine, mail is extremely scarce

After the armistice Britain occupied parts of the former Ottoman Empire & in order to maintain stability 144 Turks were in stages deported & interned at Malta as Political Prisoners with the last of them being released during the latter part of October 1921...mail is not common

Censor 1076 was one of a block of 12 between 1074 -1085 that was issued & used in Malta from 19 Oct - 17 Nov 1914

A remarkable item 107 days in transit which Davis in Burma Postal History p153 makes reference to this card.... Lager 2 was Rennbahn, Munster racecourse see... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_prisoner-of war_camps_in_Germany#VII_Army_Corps_(Munster) .... There were four camps: Münster I was outside the city in open farming country, Münster II was at the racecourse, Münster III was a former Army barracks, and Münster IV was reserved for Russian prisoners.

This Censors Wax seal that measures differently at 10 x 6mm to the extremities of the box to any of the handful recorded by the CCSG as at 2014.

[20327] GB -HOLLAND..WW1 REGISTERED INSURED POW MAIL from I.O.M. 1916(Mar 30) GB 3d Brown registered stationary envelope to Rotterdam uprated with 5d & ˝d tied The Camp Knockaloe/Peel cds & with Registration & Value Declared labels & manuscript "Insured for twenty pounds" from POW in Camp 4, Compound 3 Hut 1 with oval Aliens Detention Camp /Censored /Knockaloe I.O.M. handstamp partly overlaid by rare oval Postkantoor /Vlissingen /Queenborough wax seal & on reverse framed Folkestone /Vlissingen (2 Apr) datestamp & Rotterdam arrival (3 Apr) arrival cds. ................................................................................................ Mails to Holland were mostly carried by Zeeland Steamship Co. sailing between Flushing to Folkstone or Queenborough. On outbreak of war Queenborough was closed to Dutch steamships but other routes remained open, further changes to routes took place under Admiralty orders during 1915 & 1916. In Feb & Mar 1916 the Zeeland sailings were temporarily suspended & outward letter mails were carried by Great Eastern Railway steamers, the Zeeland sailing recommenced in April. [20397] GREAT BRITAIN …WW1 HMS KENT BATTLE of FALKLANDS… 1915 Coloured picture postcard showing Valparaiso, Government Building to London bearing GB GV ˝d tied Mute oval rugby style cancel & with black circular Passed /HMS Kent /Censor. ................................................................................................ After the Naval battle of Falklands the Dresden escaped & evaded the searching British ships for months but was spotted by HMS Kent off the Chilian coast on 8 March, Kent intercepted a message from Dresden calling for a collier to meet at Juan Fernandez island, Kent summoned HMS Glasgow & they entered Cumberland Bay on 14 March. Dresden pointed her guns at the British vessels & Glasgow opened fire, the crew of Dresden scuttled her. HMS Kent apparently called at Valparaiso to put injured & wounded ashore on the 15 March.
