1942 (Nov 15) Quadruple lingual Prisoner of War printed letter Sheet imprinted W.D., P.M.G. Form No 4 February 17, 1942 modified with Prisoner deleted & Internee inserted to Hon. J.R. Farrington, Hawaiian Delegate to Congress of the U.S., c/o Honolulu Star Bulletin from Hans Zimmerman, Sands Island Detention Camp, Honolulu cancelled US Army Postal Service (25 Nov) date stamp & with black circular Passed By /27 / Army Censor hand stamp together with another similar letter sheet dated 1943 (Feb 19) again to J.R. Farrington with black unframed Mar 8 1943 & on inside Mar 9 1943 hand stamps indicating it was in the Military Censor hands until then from Carl ??? thanking him for the work he has been doing in trying to obtain legislation towards reverting to a Civil Government from the present Martial Law ……………………………After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour Martial Law was enforced together with the internment of all Aliens & those of enemy ancestry. Martial Law was rigid and harsh and punishment for trivial misdemenours was often out of context to the offence…Hans Zimmerman was a US citizen of German ancestry & a US Army War Veteran who with the aid of his wife, Farrington & others waged a legal battle against the US Government & US Military…see enclosed typed history ………….A rare & historic pair of covers
