1933 (Mar 16) Picture postcard entitled “Malta – Entrance M’ Xetto Harbour” to Larnaca bearing Malta GV 1½d tied Valletta cds with black circular Postal Censor /G.R. /Cyprus hand stamp ……………. British Colonial Rule, Hardships, Poverty & the World Economic Crisis resulted in Civil Disturbances commencing in Nicosia 20 October 1931 & spreading to Rural areas with Government properties being damaged, burnt & looted. These were subdued within a few days & Defence of Cyprus Regulations (1931) were imposed with Postal Censorship lasting until 1936. These regulations were never officially lifted so censorship remained in force until the end of WW2
