25 April 1898 saw the outbreak of the Spanish-American war but it was not until 4 Feb 1899 fighting occurred against US forces in the Philippines & although the insurrection was officially declared ended 4 July 1902 fighting continued specially on Mindanao where the Muslim Moros held out until 5 June 1913.
