Det. 404 was a unit within the Office of Strategic Services (O.S.S. later to become the C.I.A.) & was a secret USA Government organisation that used agents to penetrate enemy occupied territory & gather intelligence etc. Capt. Rentse was a Dutch officer serving with the O.S.S. & it is believed that Detachment 404 was operational in Thailand & Burma.
