1944 Japanese printed military stationary Star card on thin flimsy paper to Yoshiko Kuranishi, Tsugoona-mura, Yamabe-gun, Nara- ken, Japan from Lieutenent Matsuo Kobayashi, I – 30, I – 100 Units, Sato Company, Nancowry 25th Army Defence Unit, Nicobar Islands with crimson framed 2 character Ken’etsuzumi (Censor) & red framed Ken’etsuzumi (Censored) with orange oval chop of unidentified censoring officer…The Nicobar Islands situated in the Bay ofBengal were strategically important flanking & controlling the approaches to Burma. On 12 March 1942 when it became evident that Japanese forces would take Rangoon the garrison of British Indian troops were withdrawn & the islands were occupied by the Japanese for rest of the war.
