1944(May 30)Plain envelope with return address of Ifunda camp registered to Polish Red Cross Delegate, New York bearing K.U.T. 1/- plus 2 x 30c & 2 x 20c (one folded over) making correct 2/- rate for Registered Airmail & all tied Iringa cds. Double censored at Dar es Salaam & again on arrival New York with on reverse Dar es Salaam ( 4 Jun) transit cds oval New York Regy (31 Aug) recieved & New York (5 Sep) delivered cds. Registered mail is exceedingly Rare……In 1942 Stalin released many Poles whotravelled with wives & families through Persia, from here the able men were formed into Military units and wives & children assisted by the allies continued towards the Middle East where they were mainly settled into Refugee Settlement camps in East Africa, Rhodesia, Tanganyika, Uganda. A total of 22 Camps existed some of which were very small. With children making up the vast majority of refugees mail is understandably scarce & from many camps still awaiting discovery..
