1939 (Oct 30) Plain envelope that is worn & with 60% of back flap missing to Darlaston, Staffs., bearing Aden 2a & ½a tied Aden cds & with violet circular Crown/PASSED BY / R.A.F. / CENSOR / No 65 (R1 /65)….R1/65 RAF Censor is recorded by Colley 20 Nov 1939 to 24 Jun 1940 this pre dates the ERD by 3 weeks….All RAF R1 censors with the exception of those from the B.E.F. in France during the misnamed phoney war are becoming more difficult to locate.
