Then to Alex”……………HMS Ascania was initially used as a troop transport for US & Canadian forces across the Atlantic, later she served The Eastern Mediterrean Squadron including service in the Gallipoli & Dardanelles & after 30 Sep 1918 when Turkey surrendered saw service in Sevastapol, Russia with several other Allied vessels protecting British interests in this still volatile area..
