1902 (Jul 11) Stampless envelope to Paris endorsed Corps d’Occupation de Madagascar & cancelled Diego Suarez cds & with blue circular Government General de Madagascar & Dependances with seated Liberty in centre hand stamp & on reverse Paris (22 Aug) arrival cds……..The 2nd Madagascar Expedition commenced 1 Mar 1895. A French colony was declared 6 Aug 1896 & a Pacification period continued until 1902 with scattered disturbances till 1905.
