On the first day of 1901 the Commonwealth of Australia was born joining the UPU on October 1, 1907.

Australia’s first stamp was unveiled on January 2, 1913 with the issue of a red 1d (one penny) Kangaroo and Map, and the first commemorative stamp was issued on May 9, 1927.

Australian Military, Naval Forces and Air Force served in WW1, WW2, Korean & VN wars and had/have a presence in Iraq & Afghanistan.

Like most countries, the Australian Postal Service issues a number of commemorative stamps throughout the year. Stamp collectors prize Australian postage stamps for good colour and detail.
