1841 (Nov 19) Stampless folded Entire to his mother in law written by Captain perhaps Major R R Gillespie, 15th Hussars from Poonamalee with manuscript Per Steamer via Marseilles & oval INDIA & on reverse framed POONAMAKEE / Paid with manuscript 19 Nov 1841 / 10 Annas inserted & alongside Inland Postage to Bombay covering the inland postage & on face manuscript 3/6 Charge to London & with octagonal 10 Fr 10 / FE 7 /1841 alongside faint & poor circular 1 / 7 FE 7 / 1842 applied at London. Typed transcript of the entire letter is included “Capt. probably Major R. R. GillespieI by now with the 15th had left the Army of the Indus at Bukkhur on the 7th Jan 1840 & he writes that his duties to be both civil & military, says Medical facilities are good & gossips about an individual forced to leave the 15th due to owing monies, ….
