However HMS Jumna was still in Bombay having been entrusted the task of transporting to the British Museum probably the most important ever archaeological discovery of Artifacts from Nimrud area adjacient to the Tigris river (Iraq) made by Austen Henry Layard some time earlier. 12 Apr 48 HMS Jumna leaves Bombay bound for the British Museum with 55 cases of Artifacts under Capt. Lieut Rodney..22 Apr 48 hit bad weather off Ceylon over 23rd gets to Gale Force 10 overnight reaches Gale Force 12 & 24th vessel tipped upside down in wicked tempests & gale force 10 – 12 seas off Ceylon…HMS Jumna limps into Trincomalee Harbour needing major repairs.
