1896 (Dec 6) Minature 103 x 62mm stampless envelope to Rochfort endorsed “Corps D’occupation de Madagascar” cancelled Corps Exped De Madagascar/L.V. No 1 cds with alongside weak Diego Suarez (6 Dec) cds & on reverse partial ???/Charente cds ……..The 2nd Madagascar Expedition commenced 1 Mar 1895. A French colony was declared 6 Aug 1896 & a Pacification period continued until 1902 with scattered disturbances till 1905.
