1898 (Mar 4) Printed British East Africa 1 anna U.P.U Stationary Post Card with vertical crease to Capt. C.H. Vigors, The Royal Irish, Limerick, Ireland from Lt. Reginald R. Arbuthnot, 18th Royal Irish Regt., with interesting cross written message regarding his arrival on 1st Mar & eagerness to go up country to join those presently quelling the troublesome & mutinous Sudanese troops in Uganda cancelled Mombasa squared circle & with Zanzibar (5 Apr) transit cds……Arbuthnot got his wish & in Jan 1899 was given command of a half Company of Uganda Rifles & on page 257 of “With MacDonald in Uganda” he is mentioned during the authors description of the last 11 mile march to the Government Ravine Station ….a typed copy of this description together with links to other information is included for this small and obscure Indian military expedition..
