1903 (Oct 31) Stampless envelope to Paris endorsed Corps d’Occupation de Madagascar & cancelled Tanamarive cds in blue & with violet circular Corps D’Occupation de Madagascar /Etat-Major /Le Vaguemestre hand stamp & on reverse violet circular Groupe de l’Afrique Orientale /Le Commandant Superieur Des Troupes with seated Liberty in centre hand stamp & w/partial Paris (20 ? but probably Nov) arrival cds……..The 2nd Madagascar Expedition commenced 1 Mar 1895. A French colony was declared 6 Aug 1896 & a Pacification period continued until 1902 with scattered disturbances till 1905.
