It is still uncertain whether I will take over A Coy here or go to Amar for two months…I cannot understand why the Govt. have cut down the artillery, already our proportion of guns to bayonets is far lower than that of foreign armies…I was living on Gunia corn bread during our journey down country so it is certainly rather nice to have a good bungalow and Mess here, but I do not like Lokoja and hope I shall not have to remain here” written during tribal Pacification period
