1914 (Nov 4) [4.11.3] Stampless red band envelope marked Military Mail complete with letter to Seitaro Murata, 1st Company, 20th Cavalry Regt., Kyoto from Hotaro Yamguchi, 3rd Party, 1st Platoon Field Artillery, 3rd Regiment cancelled Japanese vernacular FPO 1(3?) cds & with small orange circular censors chop of Someda ……………..Japanese forces landed in China 2 September & surrounded the German Settlement of Tsingtao. The siege of Tsingtao concluded with the surrender of German colonial forces on 7 November 1914…This very early WW1 soldier to soldier mail during the siege is historically important……..
