Description

1915 (May 5) Coloured picture postcard entitled Stationsgebaude in Bethanien showing a Fort to Worchester, Cape Colony, endorsed On Active Service & datelined Gibeon & cancelled blue framed divided in 3 segmented box 16 MAY 1915 / 37 with fantastic message “We had a big fight here a couple of days ago and had about 20 killed. I was captured by the Germans but was soon released. Tell Philip hat Serge Fletcher was killed , he had 7 bullets in him.” “I am dying for a smoke they are a luxury here.” ….These divided FPO datestamps are very scarce & run to No 60 with some gaps in the lower numbers 16 & below…The few that Proud has seen are rated at 1000 points most are Not Seen. He allocates FPO 37 to Kuibis 14 May – 4 Jun 1915 so with the card datelined Gibeon it is assumed written at Gibeon & posted 11 days later after he arrived Kuibis
