Dttc., 73rd Carnatic Infantry, Berbera bearing Somaliland Prot. 1a tied faint Berbera cds & with on reverse black ink Passed By Censor alongside pencil Initials 28/9/15 & Madras (18 & 19 Oct) transit & arrival cds….Most of the 73rd Carnatic Infantry remained in India throughout the war except for a small Detachment of 150 men that Garrisoned Berbera from Jan 1914 – Dec 1915 against the threat from Rebels encouraged by the war in German East Africa…A very scarce item from an Indian native soldier as most were illiterate.
