1917-18 Pair stampless envelopes together letters to Mr. M. Sarre, St. Andrews, Guernsey. One written by his son 1st Nov 1917 & headed 1408 Pte Sarre M, A Coy, 1St Service Batt., R. Guernsey L.I., BEF France cancelled FPO 119 & with oblong 5243 censor h/s countersigned by censorship officer J. Lynch 2nd Lt (he was K.I.A. 30.11.17). Other cancelled FPO 109 & with oblong censor 5243 with letter dated 02.03.18 to Sarres father from No 996 Pte Heaume, 1st Service Batt, R. Guernsey L.I., D Coy 15 Platoon in which he indicates his sorrow that his son is a POW & goes on to say “I bandaged one of the RE’s, he told me all the engineers are prisoners & wounded so I quick thought of poor Mike who was with them, he was not with his company he was sent with them when we arrived at — the day before we went over the top on the 20th Nov”
