1917 (Apr ) coloured stampless postcard entitled “Cairo-Native village near the Nil” to Captain Fujimori, War Ship Fuso, 1st Fleet from sailor Suzuki aboard Japanese Destroyer “Katsura”, 10th Flotilla, 2nd Special Fleet, Port Said cancelled on arrival Yokohama (12 May) & with orange framed Gunji Yubin (Military Mail) + Ken-etsuzumi (Censored) & with interesting comment “This voyage with 4000 Japanese has passed peacefully and we now have an opportunity to show our work …………………………………………………………………………………….
The 2nd Special Fleet ordered 7 February 1917 & consisted of Cruiser HIJMS “Akashi” plus 10th & 11th Destroyer Fleets each with 4 Battleships was assembled & left Singapore on 11 March reaching Port Said on 9 April & arriving Malta 13 April from where it was based. The flotilla was mainly employed on escort duties throughout the Mediterreanean & mail is understandably rare.
