1919 (Aug 2) stampless O.A.S. envelope roughly opened along top a evidence of worm holes addressed to Grand Hotel, Simla countersigned by Officer & with & cancelled on reverse Indian F.P.O. No 153 used by 16 Division 44 Bde with Simla (4 Aug) arrival cds……… The third Afghan war 6 May – 8 Aug with mail between these dates being extremely scarce continued with what is known as late Afghan War throughout August that blended into the Waziristan campaign in the North West Frontier area where various tribes were troublesome & fighting continued against the British Indian forces in various N.W.F. areas & Baluchistan until Feb 1934 (FPO 169) & unfortunately remains a volatile area to this day.
