Interesting item, in 1932 “Conte Verde” was aquired by Italy & became part of the Italian Lloyd Triestino line serving Triest – Shanghai via Suez, Bombay, Colombo, Singapore & Hong Kong. Between 1938 – 1940 she transported 17,000 Jewish refugees from persecuted Europe to Shanghai. Later in May 1942 she was chartered to accompany Asmara Maru as Japan’s choice for the Diplomatic exchanges of personel held by the Japanese..
