1935(Jun 29) Black & white postcard entitled “Asmara – Chiesa Copta” to Italy bearing Eritrea 20c tied Posta Militare 101 cds that was used by the Italian forces during the campaign ……………… Without any declaration of war Mussolini’s troops invaded Ethiopia on 3 Oct 1935 & with modern weapons & aircraft against primative resistance Addis Ababa was captured 5 May 1936. Heile Selassie had fled & despite pleading for help from the League of Nations Italy had already named it’s king “Emperor of Ethiopia” annexed the country, united it with Eritrea & Italian Somaliland to form Italian East Africa.
