1936 (Sep 22) Plain envelope together with charred letter by airmail to Manila bearing combination of GV 6d + GV Photogravure 5d making 11d rate tied Torquay/Devon machine date stamp & with Commonwealth of the Philippines /Officially Sealed /Bureau of Posts label tied by unframed Received in Bad Order hand stamp & on back typed Bulletin of Verification /dated October 3, 1936 / The letters in this bun- /dle of correspondence were /Salvaged from the Imperial /Airways aeroplane “Athena” /destroyed by fire at New /Delhi on the 29th September 1936 label ………………. The airliner operating the Karachi – Singapore sector of Imperial Airways service to Australia caught fire at Delhi on 29 Sept when the engines were started. The crew & all passengers safely deboarded the aircraft but much of the mail was destroyed with the remainder being damaged
