Without any declaration of war Mussolini’s troops invaded Ethiopia on 3 Oct 1935 & with modern weapons & aircraft against primative resistance Addis Ababa was captured 5 May 1936. Heile Selassie had fled & despite pleading for help from the League of Nations Italy had already named it’s king “Emperor of Ethiopia” annexed the country, united it with Eritrea & Italian Somaliland to form Italian East Africa.
