1936 (Oct 21) O.H.M.S. Economy label affixed to previously used plain envelope to Officer I/C R.A.O.C. Records, Portsmouth cancelled Field Post Office 16 cds located at Jerusalem between 1 Oct 36 – 7 Jan 37 with above Field Post Office 20 cds located King David’s Hotel, Jerusalem between 25 Sep 36 – 10 Jan 37 & with violet oval A.D.O.S. 36 /21 Oct. 1936 /Headquarters ? hand stamp ….

A full scale uprising in April 1936 by Palestinian Arabs against British colonial rule in mandated territory resulted in Britain sending more troops and an Army Postal unit via H.M.T “Dorsetshire” where FPO 12 opened on board and a further 10 FPO’s between numbers 15 – 26 on arrival the first opening on 1 October with the last closing on 10 January 1937 after problems had subsided by the end of 1936 only to reoccur again in September 1937.
