1936 (Dec 7) Plain envelope to HQ Sudan Defence Force, Khartoum with typed endorsement “Covering a letter from 2nd Battalion Scots Guards, Palestine Force dated 7.12.1936 bearing GB GV Photogravure 1½d tied Field Post Office 15 cds located at Nablus between 18 Nov – 19 Dec 1936 & with on reverse Shellal-Halfa /T.P.O. /No2 (12 Dec) transit cds ….A full scale uprising in April 1936 by Palestinian Arabs against British colonial rule in mandated territory resulted in Britain sending more troops and an Army Postal unit via H.M.T “Dorsetshire” where FPO 12 opened on board and a further 10 FPO’s between numbers 15 – 26 on arrival the first opening on 1 October with the last closing on 10 January 1937 after problems had subsided by the end of 1936 only to reoccur again in September 1937.
