Germany invaded France in May 1940 & after the armistice of 22 June divided the country into an Occupied Zone & Unoccupied Zone administered by Vichy France. Germany placed severe restrictions on mail entering & leaving the occupied zone & this was returned 5 months later in Jan 1941.
