1940 (Jun 31) Plain envelope registered to St. Jean de Luz bearing Maroc pair 1f 50c & single 30c tied Casablanco-Poste/Maroc cds & with matching registration label No 420 & with black framed Retour /A’ L’Envoyeur & “T” within triangle with blue crayon 480 alongside plus violet double framed Ne Peut Etre Achemine /Zone Occupee (No route to Occupied Zone) hand stamps with tranparent re-sealinng label along top & on reverse Casablanca-Postes (21 Sep & 24 Sep) + Tangier Cherifien/Maroc (28 Sep) + Lisbon /Central (30 Sep) date stamps & manuscript annotation explaining No Route plus manuscript arrow to Lisbonne Portugal where it seems it was forwarded too ……… Germany invaded France in May 1940 & later divided the country into an Occupied Zone & Unoccpied Zone administered by Vichy France. This item was addressed to the Occupied Zone but arrived in Vichy (UUnoccupied) France probably via Marseilles where the Ne Peut Ettre Achemine /Zone Occupee marking was applied …..Very interesting & intriguing item
