Truk Is. part of & west of the Caroline Is. with it’s natural harbours was one of the main Japanese Naval bases in the South Pacific until Feb 1944 when US Aircraft carrier based planes attacked & destroyed a large quantity of Japanese naval vessels & land based intallations. Mail from Japanese stationed on Truk is rare
