1942-45 Japanese Naval Red Star & Anchor military card to Osaka from Asada Masatushi serving with No 4 South Dispatch Fleet Seaplane Unit at Ambon c/o Kure P.O. with red framed Censored with Orange circular chop of censoring officer Ogura …..The battle of Ambon took place from January 30–February 3, 1942. The Japanese landed on the island and defeated the Dutch and Australian forces, who were under-equipped and poorly prepared. The Australians surrendered two days after the Dutch, and the Japanese committed atrocities against the prisoners, including executing over 300 Dutch and Australian prisoners of war.
