SQUADRON / Date / Ordinary Room (Clearly an error for Orderly Room) & black lozenge Crown over PASSED DHA 15 …….. When Japan entered WW2, 62 Sqd was based in Northern Malaya & engaged Japanese shipping landing troops in Southern Thailand, after losing aircraft the Squadron was re-equipped with Hudson’s & withdrew to Sumatra & later Burma where the Japanese were rapidly overrunning the country & from bases at Cuttack or Chakala continued attacks on Japanese shipping & airfield’s later in 1943 after converting to Dakota’s 62 Sqd flew supply dropping flights over Burma & supported the 14th Army on the Burma front until Japan surrendered.
