1943 (Sep 24) Plain envelope a little worn along top to Red Cross in Geneva bearing Italy strip 3 & single 30c + 5c making 125c rate tied by Milano cds & with black unframed Servizio Sospeso hand stamp that has later been deleted in blue crayon and the mail allowed to proceed & with on reverse German Ab roller censor applied at Munich………….September 1943 was the month of the Italian Armistice following secret negotiations with the allies, it also marked the allied continued consolidation after the invasion of Sicily. Rome was still occupied by the Germans with Mussolini & the R.S.I active in Northern Italy. These events combined to affect the flow of mail but this item was later allowed to pass after deletion of the Service Suspended mark.
