1944 undated Japanese Military Dove & Helmet orange Stationary card to Kumagaya City from Matuo Shirane, Gotoh Party, Oka 5805 Unit [9th Railway Regt] Thai Dispatch “its hot every season here, but it’s cool now….. We serve well in the mountains……the elephants like us and serve well” …………………This unit 5805 arrived Burma February 1944 & were moved to Thailand late 1944 so the reference to cool & mountains indicates this was written between Feb – Apr 44 & is a rare item from the Japanese unit that were responsible for the construction of the Burma side of the Thai-Burma railway..
