1944 (Dec 12) Plain envelope with Red Cross endorsed Postal Message Scheme to Red Cross, Geneva bearing 20c tied poor Curepipe cds with a much better strike alongside & showing Censors reclosing labels applied at origin & again by British in transit with on reverse General Post Office / Mauritius (12 Dec) cds alongside red circular British Red Cross Society Curepipe Mauritius with Cross in centre sealing flaps…….The Red Cross Postal Message scheme was launched in late 1939 with Mauritius joining 12 March 1942, between this date & closure on 30 Jun 1947 the scheme handled in total almost 24 million items of mail yet with only 1639 coming from Mauritius, a rare item with copy of official Swiss Red Cross document included..
