Comd /30 Aug 1955 h/s in violet ……………The Mau Mau rebellion first kindled itself in Aug 1952 & by Oct troops from Britain had been flown in & a State of Emergency was declared on the 20th lasting until December 1959 by which time 10,000 Mau Mau members were dead & 80,000 suspects detained.
