April 1963 Guerrilla forces attacked the police station at Tebudu, Sarawak. Cross border raids continued & by September 5 Battalions of 17th Gurkha Div. were drafted in tasked with patrolling & controlling almost 1000 miles of mostly thick jungle frontier & hampered by a refusal to allow cross border operations. 12 months later Indonesian paratroops landed in Malaya, although quickly rounded up, Britain increased defence of the region with additional British, Australian & NZ troops being & allowed cross border operations to take place. In August 1966 Indonesia’s General Suharto signed an agreement that brought ended the conflict
