The Volunteer Regt. “Queens Cobras” arrived Vietnam September 1967 & combat operations started the following month….Historically in 1963 Thailand permitted the USA to use Air Bases & Naval establishments during the VN war 1955-75 & later contributed other resources including sending infantry soldiers to Vietnam suffering 1351 deaths. Thai forces were however more involved with the “Secret War” & covert operations in Laos 1964 – 72. The US pulled all ground forces out of Vietnam by 12 August 1972 & Thai – US relations in Bangkok became tender & later soured to the extent that by 1977 all US military personnel & bases were closed.
