Hotson, Makron Mission, c/o Postmaster Karachi from Noorthai & Jeffery & Sons, Saddlers & endorsed Per Parcel Post bearing EDV11 4a [damaged] & GV 1r w/indistinct cancellation & black on buff 9/Karachi Cant registration label & unrecorded unframed loose type Passed Censor/Karachi h/s [100mm nominal x 21mm w/lettering 9mm in height] in violet ……From early times & especially during the 1880 – 1897 period & up until the late 1920’s there was much concern regarding the illegal trade in guns & weapons reaching the Afghanistan tribes who were & still are waging war against the west….The Mekran Mission, initially commencing in the 1910-11 winter, with a British Naval blockade of the Mekran coast tried in vain to curb the constant supply of Arms reaching the tribes, the mission continued unsuccessfully into & throughout WW1….associated mail is rare
