R.A., APO 1635 Singapore, c/o Japanese Red Cross, Tokyo, cancelled South Norwood S.E. 25 cds & with PC90 OPENED BY / EXAMINER 7828 Imprinted 51-569 with on face pencil OVS / 27.10.42 applied by the B.R.E. (Bureau of Records & Enquiry) with alongside violet framed Japanese Censor with orange chop & red crayon initials of Murakami the censoring officer inserted. An unframed blue J 1444 that appears on mail to Taiwan between 22 Feb – 9 Jun 1944 is a Japanese record keeping / Sorting number applied on arrival at the Headuarters Camp in Taiwan & on reverse pencil 2/6/44 received date ……..
Signalman May was one of 500 POW’s transported on 27 Oct 42 from Singapore on Dai Niche Mara arriving Takao Port, Taiwan on Feb 43 & incarcerated in Takao Camp….
