1941 ( Nov 24 ) Plain envelope to Roy Luebbers, U.S.S. Wright, Honolulu, Hawaii bearing pair 1940 Centennial ½d for printed matter rate (probably a Christmas card) tied Macandrew Bay cds & with blue circular PASSED B / NAVAL CENSOR ……A remarkable Pearl Harbour item, USS Wright based at Pearl Harbour since 19 Sep 1939 in support of aviation bases at Midway, Canton, Johnson, Palmyn & Wake islands departed 20 November for Wake Is.arriving 28th, she then went to Midway prior to leaving on 4th Dec for the journey home. During the night of 6/7th Dec the crew spotted & she was overtaken by a Destroyer of unknown nationality (at the time) travelling at speed towards Hawaii. U.S.S.
