1930 (Feb 19) Plain envelope to London together with interesting letter that was probably incorrectly filed after mail was recovered with adhesive washed off & together with water stains & edge wear cancelled Melbourne /Vicoria machine date stamp & with boxed Damaged By Fire /On /S.S. Comorin h/s in black ………………. The SS Comorin originally sailing from Freemantle on 3 March via Melbourne & whilst at Colombo a fire was discovered in No 3 which was put out by flooding the hold with sea water badly damaging the mails. The vessel continued onwards to the UK landing at Tilbury on 2 April & the mail was dried out at London & Bristol prior to being delivered.
