Melbourne /Damaged by water hand stamp above P.M. 9 /Postmaster General’s Department / Found Open /Officially Sealed / Sch. C.1192 – 8/1934 label tied Melbourne 19 /Vic (19 Jan 1936) cds ……………… Airmails for the Middle East & Eastwards to Australia leaving London on 28 December were transferred to Imperial Airways City of Khartoum at Brindisi. On the approach to Alexandria the flying boat ran out of fuel and crashed. The Captain plus 2 passengers survived with 3 crew & 9 passengers who did not.
