1914 (Aug 6) Plain envelope complete with enclosure to Messr’s G. Gehi & Co. Karachi from Giuseppe Savarese, Naples bearing Italy 10c & 15c tied Napoli cds & with red crayon “Stopped” and blue crayon “X” alongside return address …….. Great Britain declared war on Germany & Austro-Hungary on 4 August & Italy although a member of the triple alliance initially remained neutral. The enclosure is innocent so it seems that the sender may have been on a “Watch” or “Black List” or that the Censor took exception for other reasons that are not made clear if indeed it was handled by censorship at all !!!
