1943 (Dec 13) Airmail envelope to Sydney N.S.W. from 2101964 Sgm. Havell, 13th Inf. Bde. Sig. Sec., bearing U.S. Transport 6c tied C.A.P.O. 51 cds & with blue framed PASSED BY / U 24302 S / ARMY EXAMINER…. On 7 Jun 1942 Japan invaded the Aleutian Islands of Attu & Kiska. In May ’43 Attu was retaken by US forces & Canada was asked to provide troops to attack Kiska, they agreed with the 13th Infantry Brigade embarking 12 July 1943 & landing at Adak to join U.S. forces on 21 July.
